Watchdog puts 12 foreign hosting providers on localization list

MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has included 12 foreign hosting providers, including Amazon Web Services, into the list of the companies that are to be localized, the authority said on Thursday in a statement.

The providers are Hetzner Online GmbH (hetzner.com), Network Solutions LLC (networksolutions.com), WPEngine Inc. (wpengine.com), HostGator.com LLC (hostgator.com), Ionos Inc. (ionos.com), DreamHost LLC (dreamhost.com), FastComet, Inc. (fastcomet.com), Amazon Web Services Inc. (aws.amazon.com), GoDaddy.com LLC (godaddy.com), Bluehost Inc. (bluehost.com), Kamatera Inc. (kamatera.com), and DigitalOcean LLC (digitalocean.com).

The foreign hosting providers, whose users are in Russia, among others, are subject to the federal law on the activity of foreign entities on the Internet on the territory of the country.

They must open a local branch, a representative office, or a legal entity; place on their website an electronic form of feedback for Russian users; and register an account on the website of the communications service for quick cooperation with the authorities.
